Writing tips The best way to make first contact with a foreign woman, especially a Ukrainian girl, is by mail. NOT BY TELEPHONE. Most American guys don"t want to hear this, because our fast paced electronic instant gratification lifestyle is quickly making personal contact obsolete.
Why is letter writing so important?
For several reasons, one of which is practical the other cultural. First of all these are very busy women. Many of them are working two jobs just to break even, so a phone call in the middle of the night from a total stranger who doesn"t speak Ukrainian, can be a very uncomfortable irritation. As far as e-mail, it"s just not a part of the average Ukrainian lifestyle. Many ladies might go all week without even seeing a computer, certainly not having free access to one.
Consider this- there is only one computer for every 100 Ukrainians. Yes, this like all things in life, in the Ukraine this is slowly changing. Its a real hassle for a Ukraine who doesn"t own a computer (as 95% don’t) to send or receive an e-mail.
She will have to travel half way across town on crowded public transit to find a business that sells e-mail services.
Then if the business is open, has electricity, (paid their service provider), all the machines are not taken or broken, and the macho geek running the place, wants to let her, then maybe she can get on-line and try to figure out your message.
Plus, most don’t speak good enough English to be able to translate it.
That’s where we come in, by taking your message, translating and printing it, so she can (as 95% prefer to, come to our office and pick it up) in a nice clean woman friendly environment.
Finally- and most important on the issue of writing letters- Ukrainian ladies are very romantic, a letter is something that you touched and took the time to send to her. It has special meaning.
Take your time, this isn’t business correspondence. Maybe quote a love poem, or a romantic thinker.
What to write.
Start off slow. Talk of your desire for family and future with her. How you love children (assuming you do), your desire for a traditional wife, your desire for a loving cozy home, etc.
Tell of your city, your job, your children if any. Basically, almost everything; she comes from a totally different culture.
She knows you have a car, house and toys, (boats, etc). Maybe mention this ,but don’t make a big deal about it. Don’t go on and on about the size of your pool. This can all be told later ,and if she needs to know now, she can ask. Don’t worry, she will have many questions. Picture a lady, just happy to go for a walk with her husband and family.
Who wants a clean, nice home, where everything works (including the husband). Its not so complicated, but done right, it takes time.
Be realistic - use common sense.
The women, from any country, are just as diverse as the men flocking to their country to meet them. Look at each woman on her own merits and look very closely. See who she is, not who you want her to be. Men find some cute pretty little soft spoken thing with a nice butt, who is willing to spend some time with them, and think they died and went to heaven. Two dates and they’re already making out wedding invitations. They’re treating this complex emotional woman, this individual with hopes and dreams, fears and apprehensions, as if she were a furry little puppy in a pet store just waiting to go home with the first person who smiles. The man, who is maybe a little starved for attention, and only has two weeks to close a deal for a wife, thinks the woman is in love with him, hopes the woman is in love with him, just because she has agreed to have dinner. He thinks that because she says nothing, that she agrees with everything he says. He thinks because she agrees to have a second dinner, that she is waiting for his proposal. Because he knows nothing for sure about this woman, except she is very nice to look at, he imagines she is everything he ever wanted, and that because she is quiet and passive he can take her home and mold her into his dream.
You should keep your mind and your eyes open at all times and not assume anything, nor rule any possibility out. Though I promise you if she is Ukrainian, she has much higher standards and probably a better education than her American sisters, she is still a woman, and women make their decisions emotionally. And real honest emotions take time.
Spend some time with her, meet her family, and ask a lot of questions. If you don’t get answers then hire an interpreter, or even try writing her some letters while you are visiting. Everyone has a different way of communicating and it’s up to you to find out who she is and what she wants. If you do all these things and still can’t find out who she is and what she wants, then maybe she doesn’t know . In this case it’s better to move on. Truthfully in most cases, the Ukraine, if she is out of her teens, will be asking the questions. And you had better be prepared to answer with the truth.
Some things for sure about most Ukraine women:
They are more honest than Americans.
They are better educated, more aware, but amazingly more humble than Americans in general.
They have a much better sense of self and what they want for their life than Americans.
They are used to and more willing to carry their own weight. And the big one-
They are less materialistic than Americans in general. Because most of them have never had much, and most of their friends have never had much, and there is little chance of ever getting a-lot, materialism does not play a big role in their life the way it does in an Americans life. Sadly Americans are taught from birth that; "You are what you own, so get a loan and be somebody."
This fact, that Ukrainian girls are much less materialistic than Americans, dispels the favorite myth that you hear from the mainstream press and your materialistic friends and family members who assume that all human beings are driven by the desire for wealth and material possessions. I’m sure you heard it when you told them you were going to look for a woman overseas. "Oh you’re just wasting your time. All those women want to do is get out of their poverty stricken third world country and they’ll marry the first man who says hello."
Nothing could be further from the truth.
To answer the question that started this conversation. Ukraine WOMEN ARE INDIVIDUALS WHO WANT A DECENT MAN IN THEIR LIFE AND HOPE FOR A BETTER FUTURE.
The negative views from Americans about Ukrainians; (99%) of the time, these Americans don’t even know a Ukrainian person ,never been to the Ukraine, heard some unconfirmed one-sided story. These Americans don’t know what they are talking about. So they spread rumor, gossip and falsehoods. Truly, ignorance in action. BE AWARE AND READY FOR THIS. |
